How to Immigrate to Canada by Sponsoring Your Child?
If you have adopted or dependent children residing overseas, you can sponsor them to come to Canada under the Family Class Sponsorship programme. This programme is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
The major goal of dependent child sponsorship, which is available through the Family Class sponsorship, is to allow relatives who now live in various countries to come together and live together in Canada. More precisely, the programme enables citizens and permanent residents of Canada to bring their foreign-born children to the country as Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Biological or adopted dependent children may be sponsored to become permanent residents of Canada and dwell with their parent.

Scholarship Qualification requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • A permanent resident who resides in Canada who is a citizen of Canada and who intends to
  • To return to Canada, or an individual recognised as an Indian under Canadian law;
  • Being able to meet your fundamental requirements, your dependent children’s needs, and your spouse’s needs, if appropriate;
  • Be able to demonstrate your bond with your child.
  • Not possess a criminal history;
  • Not be behind bars, facing a major charge, or insolvent;
  • Not be in breach of an earlier sponsorship agreement;
  • Not be the subject of an immigration inquiry; not be receiving income support, unless necessary due to a handicap.

Are you qualified to sponsor your child? Children must meet the criteria for being considered a dependent in order to be eligible for sponsorship, which includes:

  • The child of a permanent resident or Canadian citizen, whether biological or adoptive;
  • Are not married or living together as common-law partners;
  • Are younger than 22.

If the kid meets the following two criteria, they may also qualify as a dependent after becoming 22 years old:

  • They have a medical or mental condition that makes it impossible for them to provide for themselves;
  • Since they were younger than 22, they were financially dependent on their parents

What Conditions Must Be Met to Sponsor a Child?

You will be expected to sign an “undertaking” as a sponsor, which binds you to provide your child’s fundamental requirements. Examples of such an undertaking include: House, Clothes; Foodstuff and Medical costs that the public health system does not cover.

Under 22-year-old biological dependent children or those who will be adopted in Canada will have a 10-year undertaking that will last until they become 25 years old, whichever comes first. The term of the commitment is three years for dependent children who are over 22.

The Process for Sponsoring a Child for Immigration: When requesting to sponsor a kid, you must complete the following four steps:

Step 1: is to obtain an application package from the government website, which includes a manual, instructions, and forms to assist you finish the procedure correctly.

Step 2: Submit the online application fee, which includes the processing price for each applicant, the right of permanent residence fee, the biometric fee, and any other third-party payments that might be necessary.

Step 3: Submit your application by doing as instructed in the documentation you downloaded in step three.

Step 4: When Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada requests them, submit the necessary supporting documentation (IRCC).

If you live in Quebec, you will need to take additional measures because the province has its own immigration policies. At both the federal and provincial levels, you must submit an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Ministry of Immigration, La Francisation, and Integration, respectively (MIFI).

Permanent residency in Canada is granted to children sponsored under the Family Class of immigration. The freedom to work and study in Canada is also included in this.

Your child may be listed on a sponsorship application as either the lead applicant or a dependant, depending on your situation:

  • You should designate your kid as the primary applicant on the application if you are solely sponsoring your child and not your spouse or partner. If your kid has a child of his or her own, your grandchild, you must list your grandchild as a dependent on the application and provide proof that the other parent or legal guardian approves of your child’s immigration to Canada.
  • On the application, you should choose your spouse or partner as the major applicant and the kid as a dependant if you are sponsoring both your spouse or partner and a child.
  • You must follow the detailed guidelines for sponsoring your adopted kid or an orphaned family member if you wish to support your adopted child or an orphaned family member.
